Chapters 5–6
Find note names, then hear steps and skips.
Play the Music House
Hear the same musical ideas Hen and Bea meet in the book. Start with free play, then try short games for note names, steps and skips, tones and semitones, and the C-major tonic triad.
The slider raises the website's output. Your phone's media volume still sets the final maximum.
Press and hold a key to keep its sound going, or slide across keys to play each note. Use more than one finger for chords. Turn your phone sideways for two octaves and tap Full screen for more room.
Free play: hold a key for a longer sound; hold two or more together for a chord. Try finding C, D, E, F and G from the book.
Listen with your eyes too: the note name is printed on each key. Find the note the game asks for.
Does the second note move next door, or jump over one?
A semitone is the smallest keyboard step. A tone is two semitones.
Choose the three notes that make the C-major home chord: scale degrees 1, 3 and 5.
Book connection
The keyboard is deliberately limited to ideas already introduced in Hen & Bea Invite You to the Music House. It reinforces the book; it does not add a separate piano curriculum.
Find note names, then hear steps and skips.
Compare the tiny semitone with the larger tone.
Hear C as home, then build the C–E–G tonic triad.
